Brief description of project:
The population of the City in Vietnam is growing fast, while investment in infrastructure and services inadequate compared to the needs. The regional low-income population (Lias) has been developed in a lack of services and infrastructure. This creates risks for the environment and health of the population in this area and the overall impact to the whole city on a large scale. Therefore, the need to take innovative approaches to the cost to address the challenges in the process of increasing urbanization in Vietnam.
With capital sources support from the World Bank and the Fund of Human resource development policy of Japan (PHRD), Urban Upgrading Project Vietnam, the first project of the Urban Upgrading Programme Country has been formed for the purpose of poverty reduction in urban areas through the improvement of living conditions and environment for the urban poor of four City: Can Tho, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City.
The basic objective of the Urban Upgrading Project is:
(a) Infrastructure upgrade level 3 on the basis of multi-disciplinary;
(b) Reduction for urban areas through improving the environment and living conditions for the urban poor;
(c) Promote the planning method to upgrade the urban community to participate more fully meet the demands of the people.
Consultant contractor scope of works:
§ Implementation of the survey, data collection and measurement needed to assess urban upgrading project, assessing development impact indicators and overall assessment of the progress of the project mid-term stage, based on the methodology established by the Ministry of Construction in MOC5 package "consultation impact assessment of VUUP"
§ Preparation for mid-term evaluation report based on the survey and the data collected
Presented at the conference reported mid-term evaluation by the World Bank in collaboration with the Management Board held.
