Brief description of project:

The project "Water Supply and Rural Sanitation Red River Delta" is an important part of a national program aimed at reducing poverty and improving equity in Vietnam.

In 2001, representatives of the Government of Vietnam (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and representatives of the World Bank have come together to discuss and develop a research program, water projects and sanitation villages.

Stage 1 of the project (2005-2010) to be deployed at the 120 communes in the Red River Delta including Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong and Thai Binh. Total investment is U.S. $ 46,710 million, of which U.S. $ 45.08 million loan of the World Bank (WB). Estimated 800,000 people will benefit at this stage of the project.

Ninh Binh is one of four provinces located in the first phase of the project water supply and sanitation in rural Red River delta. Ninh Binh has made WB loan ​​during the period 2008-2013. Project implementation in the range of 5 districts/32 commune in Ninh Binh province.

Consultant contractor scope of works:

The goal of the project focuses on four basic issues: i) Use of sanitary toilet, ii) washing hands with soap at the right time, iii) preservation and use of improved water sources (especially encourage people to use water from centralized water supply system), iv) use of safety, environmental hygiene generally.

With these targets Consulting has implemented the following:

  • Survey the current status of sanitation and clean water at the local communes
  • Selection and training of communicators at the commune
  • Prepare documentation and propaganda planning communication activities from the provincial level to the community level
  • Monitoring and advisory support activities at local media
  • Report every 6 months and annual reports
  • The final review.
