Brief description of project:

The HIV / AIDS is a social problem in the most challenging in our era and is a major health crisis in modern history. Since the first HIV case was detected in the U.S. in the early 80s of the 20th century, but now this infectious disease has spread across the world and the lives of 25 million people around the world .

Several different relationship support to be existed between HIV / AIDS and fishing activities are required of integration of HIV / AIDS on the agenda for the FSPS II.The fishing communities, especially the fishermen floating nomadic fishermen, seem very susceptible to diseases transmitted through sexual contact, including HIV / AIDS. The fact of the fishing communities, including fishermen in Vietnam, often living in the more remote areas makes the identification and treatment of HIV / AIDS becomes more difficult and cause back barrier to access to information and support services. Therefore, it is necessary to perform an evaluation study of the factors affecting the spread of HIV in the fisheries sector which may have a scientific basis to build a strategic intervention policy transmission infectious disease and support for families affected by HIV / AIDS.

Consultant contractor scope of works:

Perform surveys on the 9 province of Son La, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Hue, Dak Lak, Binh Dinh, An Giang, Ben Tre, Ca Mau about the factors affecting the spread of HIV / AIDS in the aquatic from the PMU could have a scientific basis to build a strategic intervention policy transmission of the disease and support for families affected by HIV / AIDS.

The Consultant shall perform the following specific tasks:

  • Design tool and organize a survey and evaluation in 9 provinces
  • Write a report evaluating each province
  • Synthetic general report and make recommendations and propose appropriate
  • Presenting the results at the conference.
